Dental Treatment Is Safe During Pregnancy

Mayo Clinic (5/2, Harms) states that “dental treatment can be done at any time during pregnancy,” and research “suggests that women who receive fillings, undergo tooth extractions or have root canal treatment during the second trimester don’t experience higher rates of problems at birth.”
The Oral Health Topics on ADA.org and MouthHealthy.org provide additional information on pregnancy and oral health for dental professionals and for patients. JADA For the Patient includes the article, Keeping Your Mouth Healthy During Pregnancy.

The ADA also offers the brochures Pregnancy and Oral Health and Healthy Smiles for Mother and Baby.
